Overview of the Opportunity

The Briggs Equipment Group, a leading provider of asset management and maintenance solutions across the UK and Ireland, offers a 4-year Apprenticeship Programme for aspiring Forklift Truck & Powered Access Engineers.

This comprehensive training programme provides individuals with the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, as well as fault finding, maintenance, service, and repair of Materials Handling and Powered Access Equipment.

About the Role

As an Apprentice Field Engineer, you will complete a 3-year apprenticeship qualification: Diploma in Lift Truck Maintenance & Repair Principles SCQF Level 7. You will also gain on-the-job experience, starting with shadowing your mentor and other Engineers, progressing to performing tasks under supervision, then alongside qualified Engineers where your work will be checked and signed off.

Upon successful completion of the programme, you will be considered for a permanent contract as a fully qualified Engineer with a starting salary of approximately £25,000 (subject to satisfactory performance).

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete apprenticeship qualification tasks independently, managing and prioritising own workload, working to deadlines under pressure
  • Develop basic IT skills, including email, websites, and text documents
  • Participate in extensive training through Briggs Academy and OEM partners, as well as an Outward Bound experience
  • Work effectively with mentor, line manager, customers, and other members of the Briggs' Equipment Group teams
Requirements
  • Enthusiasm for all aspects of engineering, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic
  • Basic knowledge of the principles of health and safety
  • Able to follow instructions and problem solve
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and a consistent positive attitude is key to success
