Job Opportunity: Senior Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Laing O'Rourke. As a key member of our commercial team, you will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring that costs are accurately estimated and controlled.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the financial aspects of construction projects, including measurement, valuation, and agreement of work sections.
  • Prepare and manage interim applications for payment and agree certifications.
  • Draft, manage, and settle subcontracts.
  • Manage and report on monthly costs.
  • Draft and prepare claims.
  • Prepare and agree final accounts.
  • Day-to-day management of trainee, assistant quantity surveyor, and/or quantity surveyor.
  • Negotiate with client's representatives, sub-contractors, and other consultants to achieve project results while maintaining group relationships.
  • Advise project management on contractual implications of intended courses of action.
  • Advise on commercial risks within the project or projects.
  • Prepare and manage monthly contract review reports.
  • Prepare weekly Business Plan Review (BPR) information.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts information.
  • Prepare contractual and commercial input into Project Business Plan, as required.
  • Assist with the establishment of the project 'budget to build' from the Contract award.
  • Identify and agree change and implement change control process.
  • Ensure that contract documents are properly executed prior to project commencement.
Requirements:
  • Autonomously delivered a small to medium project or performed a support role to a commercial manager/senior commercial manager on a larger project.
  • Degree qualified in relevant discipline (Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Management).
  • NEC experience.
  • A good knowledge of coins, for both sub-contract and cost management.
  • Cost management of prelims.
  • Familiarity with the CRF and CiM processes.
  • A desire to learn the risk and opportunity process both internal and with our client.
  • Healthcare experience.
  • A drive to learn and grow to the next grade.
