Director of Commercial for the Schwarzman Centre

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join the Humanities Division at the University of Oxford as the Director of Commercial for the new multi-million pound Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities.

The Schwarzman Centre is a publicly accessible academic building delivering the highest quality teaching and research, alongside and integrated with a range of world-class performance venues including a concert hall, theatre, exhibition space, and cafe.

The Director of Commercial will be responsible for developing and delivering the commercial strategy for the new Centre, managing the full range of commercial activities, including conferencing, hospitality, commercial hires, food and beverage, merchandising, and more.

The role will also require exploring and developing new and emerging income streams.

We are looking for someone with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and proven track record in developing and implementing commercial strategies, who can increase profitability and drive sustained growth in the Centre's commercial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the commercial strategy for the Schwarzman Centre
  • Manage the full range of commercial activities, including conferencing, hospitality, commercial hires, food and beverage, merchandising, and more
  • Explore and develop new and emerging income streams
  • Increase profitability and drive sustained growth in the Centre's commercial operations

  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit and proven track record in developing and implementing commercial strategies

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
