Job Summary

: HITACHI ENERGY UK LIMITED is seeking a highly skilled Senior AC Protection and Control Engineer to lead the development of AC protection and control solutions in tender work and execution projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining, costing, and delivering AC protection and control solutions, as well as managing sub-suppliers and ensuring compatibility between functional requirements and panel design.

About the Role

: As a Senior AC Protection and Control Engineer, you will be part of a team responsible for delivering AC protection and control solutions. Your primary responsibilities will include translating customer specifications and protection schemes into conceptual design, evaluating sub-supplier quotes, and ensuring compatibility between functional requirements and panel design. Additionally, you will review suppliers' test programs, supervise Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and remotely assist installation and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) as needed.

Requirements

: To be successful in this role, you will need a wide experience in protection and control systems for MV/HV AC substations, a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar, and good understanding of relay protection schemes, including protection, control, measurement, and supervision functionalities. You will also need knowledge of various brands of protective relays and application of the same, as well as general know-how in protection and control panel design. Experience from power systems studies and grid codes, and the ability to evaluate correctness of protection coordination and setting calculations, are also essential. Furthermore, you will need good understanding of configurations and testing requirements for protection systems and experience from reading technical specifications and managing sub-suppliers.
