Job Title: Health, Safety and Environmental Lead

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health, Safety and Environmental Lead to join our team at Maintech Recruitment LTD. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and support on health, safety, and environmental matters across our business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise and support staff on HSE legislation and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Develop and implement effective health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Support operational teams in the production of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Investigate and document accidents, and implement recommended improvements.
  • Provide advice on risk management and health surveillance.
  • Assist with the development and undertaking of HSE audits and assessment plans.
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to address them.
  • Develop and deliver HSE training programs.
  • Coordinate and facilitate safety committee meetings.
  • Accurately produce and report metrics.
Requirements:
  • Minimum level 3 Health & Safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH National Certificate).
  • Minimum TechIOSH, preferred CertIOSH or equivalent.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Previous experience working in a similar role within the rail industry.
  • Experience in developing and embedding policies, systems, and procedures.
  • Experience in training and coaching others.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Naturally inquisitive with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent planning and coordination skills.
  • Team player.
  • Accountability for own responsibilities and work under own initiative.
