Mechanical Design Engineer Opportunity

Location: Canterbury, Kent
Term: Permanent
Salary: £37,000 - £45,000 dependent on experience

Our client is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Canterbury. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and experience working in a manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. HNC/HND/ Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar work-based experience
  2. At least 3 years' experience in a similar Design Engineering role
  3. Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
  4. Proficiency in 3D CAD software, with Creo being an advantage
  5. Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
  6. Some electrical skills would be beneficial
  7. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  8. Proficiency in MS Office
  9. Excellent organisational skills and time management skills
  10. Ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for:

  1. Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
  2. Liaising with manufacturing providers
  3. Being involved in NPI and Product development
  4. Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports/plans
  5. Updating 3D models and drawings
  6. Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
  7. Checking drawings for sign off
  8. Liaising with pre-production and operations functions to allow for efficient and cost-effective manufacture
  9. Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
