Wickford, United Kingdom New way tuition Full time

Role Overview

New Way Tuition Limited is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as an Outreach Tutor. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing education and mentoring to students who do not attend mainstream education due to reasons such as SEN, SEMH, or risk of permanent exclusion.

This is a deeply rewarding role with abundant job satisfaction, involving one-to-one and group sessions in subjects including basic Maths, English, PSHE, interventions, and mentoring, conducted at pupils' homes, local libraries, and schools.

The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of Literacy and Maths, alongside experience working with children, including those with SEND. Our students range from EYFS to Year 11, and we operate up to GCSE/Functional Skills levels. A current Enhanced DBS is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver lessons using provided learning materials and curriculum under the guidance of Area Learning Managers.
  • Conduct baseline assessments for pupils in their first week of tuition and track progress through reassessments.
  • Deliver sessions to pupils, typically lasting 2-3 hours per session.
  • Maintain detailed weekly reports and mentoring logs for each pupil.
  • Remain vigilant to safeguarding concerns and report any issues promptly.
  • Attend staff meetings and regular training sessions.

Training, Skills, and Qualifications

Previous experience in tutoring or teaching, especially with diverse age groups, is essential.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required, along with patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for student success. Flexibility to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs is also essential. AC grades in Maths and English or equivalent qualifications are preferred but not essential.

Working Hours and Pay

Sessions are primarily scheduled during school hours (9:00 AM - 3:00 PM), with occasional sessions before or after these times. Term times only. Mandatory evening training sessions/meetings will be scheduled for all staff.

A competitive salary of £25-30 per hour is offered, with opportunities for self-employed or payment through an umbrella company. Weekly pay ensures timely financial compensation.
