Job Title: Cover Supervisor

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cover Supervisor to join our team in Rotherham. As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our client schools by providing cover for absent teachers and supporting students in their learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise classes during the short-term absence of teachers, maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Deliver pre-set lesson plans, engaging students and promoting their academic progress.
  • Manage classroom behaviour, using effective strategies to minimize disruptions and maximize learning opportunities.
  • Support students with their learning, providing individualized assistance and guidance as needed.
  • Report back to teaching staff on student progress, highlighting areas of strength and weakness.
  • Uphold school policies and procedures, ensuring a consistent and high-quality learning experience for all students.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or in a similar role, with a strong track record of success.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, teachers, and other school staff.
  • Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively, using a range of strategies to promote positive learning environments.
  • A positive attitude and a passion for working with young people, with a commitment to their academic and personal development.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to work across different subjects and year groups.
  • A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths, with a strong foundation in these core subjects.
  • Availability to work part-time or full-time hours, as required by the school.
  • Possession of an enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or a willingness to have one processed immediately.
