Dispensary Manager Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Technician to take on the role of Dispensary Manager at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage the technical and operational dispensary functions, ensuring timely and accurate dispensing of prescriptions to patients.
  • Coordinate and direct the dispensary team to achieve high-quality patient care and service delivery.
  • Oversee the dispensary stock management, including controlled drugs, and maintain the automated cabinet.
  • Collaborate with the Pharmacy Quality Team, Error Monitoring Team, and other hospital pharmacies to share best practices and benchmarking.
  • Contribute to quality improvement projects and implement actions to ensure compliance with GPHC standards.
Person Specification
  • BTEC and NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent qualification.
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a practising Pharmacy Technician.
  • Accredited Checking Technician.
  • Leadership/Management/Supervision or equivalent qualification.
Essential Experience
  • Significant experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital pharmacy environment.
  • Experience of dispensary technical operational requirements.
  • Experience of directing and managing teams.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Effective communication and organisational skills.
  • Compliance to GPHC standards and implementation, including controlled drugs management.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy services delivered to patients and wards.
  • Knowledge of prescription turnaround times and impact on workflow.
