Job Title: Consultant Geriatrician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Geriatrician to join our Elderly Care team at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to older adults with frailty and complex medical needs.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services for local residents with frailty and complex medical needs.
  • Work collaboratively with consultant colleagues and the Acute Frailty Team to develop and implement effective care plans.
  • Contribute to the expansion of the Acute Frailty Service, providing specialist care to older adults with frailty.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care transitions.
Requirements:
  • Hold a medical qualification or registration with the GMC.
  • Have a higher medical qualification (e.g., MRCP/MRCS) and Specialist Registration or be within 6 months of CCT date.
  • Have a good working knowledge of Geriatric Medicine and experience in General Internal Medicine and Care of the Elderly.
  • Be able to contribute to the full range of skills required for the on-call rota for the specialty.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience in teaching and training junior doctors and medical students.
  • Ability to apply research findings to clinical problems and critically review research.
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals and experience in supervising postgraduate research.
