Job Description:

This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires a combination of technical expertise and analytical skills. As a Build Estimation Specialist, you will be responsible for calculating build costs for our customers, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and exceptional quality.

You will work closely with our preconstruction team and supply chain partners to provide accurate cost estimates that meet customer requirements and project scope.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Evaluate all costs on a project to ensure alignment with the project scope, customer needs, and current legislation.
  2. Work closely with the preconstruction team to secure and convert tender projects.
  3. Utilize technical expertise to identify opportunities and risks, along with solutions to add value.
  4. Collaborate with the project team to identify and value alternative design solutions, presenting them to customers for review.
  5. Complete or manage project take-offs to the required level of detail (SMM7/NRM2/building quants).
  6. Provide comprehensive and robust cost information packs during the substantiation process, including completed comparisons, bills of quantities, tender books, and quotations.
  7. Review supply chain partner performance with the operations team.
  8. Work with the design lead to capture and include design fees in the tender summary book (consultants, statutory authorities, surveys, schedules, etc.).
  9. Conduct cost assessments on alternative design solutions to inform final design and project/customer budget decisions.
  10. Making data-driven decisions based on customer insights to provide solutions meeting customer requirements.
Requirements:
  • Essential: Strong numeracy skills, excellent written and spoken English, BTEC in Building Studies, Building Engineering, or Building Management, or a HNC/HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying/Construction Management/Civil Engineering (or equivalent work experience).
Personal Qualities:
  • Lead by example, take responsibility to drive results, and hold yourself accountable for delivering high-quality work.
  • Analytical skills – ability to analyze project specifications and technical documents to accurately estimate cost.
  • Attention to detail – precision in reviewing project details and understanding scope of work, considering all relevant factors affecting cost.

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum.
