The Principal Examiner is responsible for overseeing the standardisation of Examiners, ensuring the timely delivery of contracted units, and updating the mark scheme/guidance before the pre-standardisation meeting. You'll also lead meetings such as pre-standardisation and standardisation, and participate in others like appeals against results and post-series reviews.

As a Senior Associate, you'll be expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills, a comprehensive knowledge of the specification for your specialist sector, and the ability to provide and co-ordinate training such as standardisation and other standards-related activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the timely delivery of contracted units
  • Updating the mark scheme/guidance before the pre-standardisation meeting
  • Leading meetings such as pre-standardisation and standardisation
  • Participating in appeals against results and post-series reviews
  • Sampling supervisors/Examiners' initial marking and backreading responses
  • Monitoring the progress of supervisors/Examiners
  • Reviewing responses for clarification
  • Acting as a senior point of escalation across the quality assurance process

Requirements include:

  • Experience and knowledge of quality assurance and assessment practice
  • History of moderation and/or marking a regulated qualification
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven ability to provide and co-ordinate training such as standardisation and other standards-related activities
  • A comprehensive knowledge of the specification for your specialist sector
