Job Summary

We seek an experienced Senior Anatomic Pathologist to join our team at our largest pre-clinical site in the UK. Located in Harrogate, this historic town boasts stunning scenery, excellent transport links, and a range of cultural attractions.

The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for reporting and interpreting pathology data from all types of toxicity studies. This includes conducting work in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, such as GLP guidelines, and collaborating with other scientists to address scientific issues related to pathology.

The role involves supervising necropsies, performing microscopic evaluations, and correlating findings with clinical pathology results. Additionally, the individual will compile pathology narrative reports, communicate pathologic findings to study directors and clients, and maintain working relationships with internal and external clients.

Responsibilities
  • Protocols: Advise on anatomic and clinical pathology requirements for toxicity studies.
  • Necropsy: Supervise necropsies to ensure proper dissection, sampling, and preservation of tissues according to protocol.
  • Histopathology: Perform microscopic evaluation and interpretation of tissue sections from toxicology studies.
  • Clinical Pathology: Evaluate and interpret clinical pathology data from toxicology studies conducted for specified clients.
  • Reports: Compile pathology narrative reports for toxicology studies assigned to the jobholder, meeting report deadlines.
  • Interaction: Maintain working relationships with internal and external clients to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Advisory: Assist and advise study directors, operational personnel, and pathologists in training in the pathology department.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in laboratory animal pathology.
  • Demonstrated expertise in evaluating pathology data from acute, subchronic, and chronic rodent toxicology studies, as well as studies with dogs, primates, and other laboratory species.
  • Ability to work with other scientists and staff to address scientific issues related to pathology.
  • Ability to provide scientific guidance and feedback to technicians.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
Education Requirements
  • Veterinary degree or equivalent.
  • FRCPath or equivalent qualification.

Estimated Salary Range

£80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
