About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our team at Schoen Clinic York. As a Senior Healthcare Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the nursing staff to provide exceptional patient care.

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee shift operations and ensure efficient task completion
  • Guide junior colleagues and provide mentorship
  • Adhere to NICE guidelines and create care plans that make a positive impact on patients' lives
  • Build therapeutic relationships with patients and their families
  • Conduct regular patient assessments and provide support during meal times
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective care
  • Ensure safety and report concerns

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • A good standard of education, ideally NVQ level 2 or equivalent
  • Clear evidence of continued professional development
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with patients
  • Experience of working effectively in a multidisciplinary team

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Awareness of NICE guidelines and treatment of eating disorders
  • Competent to undertake basic physical observations
  • At least 12 months experience working as an HCA in an inpatient environment
  • Awareness and commitment to equality and diversity
  • Knowledge of MHA and MCA
  • Knowledge of safeguarding
