About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative clinical or counselling psychologist to join our Complex Emotional Needs Service (CENS) as a Band 7 Clinical Psychologist. The successful candidate will have a post-graduate doctoral level of training in clinical or counselling psychology and current professional registration with the HCPC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to MDT care planning and provide assessment, formulation, and intervention for individuals with complex emotional needs.
  • Develop compassionate and respectful relationships with clients and promote their ability to act on their own behalf.
  • Engage in reflective forums to support effectiveness and wellbeing, and assertively advocate for and co-ordinate formulation-driven and person-centred care.
  • Contribute to the development of such care in the wider organisation and support transitions from CAMHS to adult mental health services.
  • Support and develop care provided by other agencies, such as supported living providers, and support the inclusion of experts by experience in the development, evaluation, and delivery of mental health services.

Person Specification
  • Post-graduate doctoral level of training in clinical or counselling psychology or equivalent.
  • Current professional registration with the HCPC.
  • Clinical supervision training for doctoral trainees.
  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
  • Broadly based knowledge of the theory and practice of advanced psychological therapies in specific difficult-to-treat groups.
Experience
  • Demonstrable experience of working as a practitioner psychologist, including a significant period of working at a senior level in the specific field where the post is held.
  • Experience of teaching, training, and/or professional and clinical supervision.
  • Evidence of promoting and supporting active user/carer involvement/participation.
  • Proven leadership/management experience, able to demonstrate examples of positive impact/change within service delivery/practice at an advanced level.
  • Ability to work across team/organisational boundaries, developing and maintaining multi-professional and multi-agency partnerships.
  • Experience of developing others through education, mentorship, coaching, teaching, assessing, presentations, and publishing.
Skills
  • Effective inter-personal skills and experience in supervising, mentoring, and teaching.
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff to embrace change.
  • Able to demonstrate effective communication skills at all levels, strategically and locally.
  • Be able to demonstrate leadership/management skills at an advanced level.
