Research Scientist in Sonification

As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will collaborate with experts from various fields to deliver research activity on the Sonic Intangibles project. This project aims to bring intangible concepts, such as distant galaxies and computer network traffic, into our audible experience. You will work closely with the Project Lead, Professor Paul Vickers, and other team members to develop research using sonification in astronomy, materials science, computing, and space weather.
About the Team
Our team is led by Professor Vickers, President of ICAD, and includes experts from the Department of Computer and Information Sciences, Mathematics, Physics and Electrical Engineering, and the School of Arts and Cultures. We have a strong track record of leading interdisciplinary projects, including the Leverhulme Trust RADICAL project and the Audio Universe project. Our team is committed to collaborative research and has a proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
About You
We are seeking a highly skilled researcher with a PhD in Computer Science or a relevant discipline. You should have expertise in computer programming, data sonification, and auditory display. You will be responsible for leading experiments, interviews, and focus groups, and working collaboratively with the team to achieve project goals. If you are a motivated and enthusiastic researcher with a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration, we encourage you to apply.
