We are seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to lead our team in Stanford le Hope, Essex. Our successful candidate will manage the environment team and environmental programme at DP World London Gateway, the UK's newest deep sea container port and attached logistics park development, which is rapidly being developed.
The ideal candidate will have demonstratable experience in an environmental role, as well as line management experience and a natural ability to lead with proactivity. You will ideally come from a heavy plant, construction or operational industry and have overseen/interacted with development consenting.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and mentor the environment team.
- Manage the environmental and permitting programme of works for the project, ensuring relevant environmental licenses, permits and permissions are obtained and compliance with environmental laws.
- Lead in the development and implementation of DP World London Gateway's environmental monitoring programs and strategies.
- Lead on the environmental approach regarding external stakeholder communication and representing DP World London Gateway on environmental matters with regulators, customers and tenants, trade associations (UKMPG), NGOs and the local community.
- Procure resources (internal and external) to meet the requirements of the environmental programme.
- Manage the environmental works undertaken by contractors and consultants and provide expert advisory support to other teams carrying out works with environmental components or considerations.
- Develop the budgets needed for environmental works and then ensure that works are carried out in accordance with agreed project budgets.
- Provide advisory support to project teams for contracts to mitigate the potential for claims associated with environmental aspects.
- Manage the submission of documentation required to satisfy environmental planning conditions.
- Degree in environmental science, environmental engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Full membership of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment or equivalent.
