About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Mandarin Language Specialist to join our team at MI5. As an Intelligence Specialist, you will be responsible for using your knowledge of Mandarin to identify nuances and seek out key information from spoken and written materials.

Key Responsibilities
• Utilize your adept knowledge of Mandarin language and culture to contextualize and make information accessible to others
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to direct projects and drive forward investigations
• Translate and interpret Mandarin materials, as well as perform operational work including planning, casework, and training

Requirements
• Active and passive language skills in Mandarin, with excellent written English
• Good knowledge of Chinese culture, history, religion, and politics
• Ability to read, write, speak, and listen to Mandarin fluently
• Proficiency in Mandarin language in all its forms, at C1 level

What We Offer
• A competitive salary of £37,281 - £43,490, with the possibility to qualify for additional language allowances once in role
• A 6-month probationary period, followed by eligibility for an additional payment of £3,000 per annum in recognition of your language skill
• 25 days' annual leave, rising to 30 days after 5 years' service, and 10.5 days' public and privilege holidays
