Key Responsibilities:

Database Management: Oversee and maintain PostgreSQL databases in a production environment, ensuring high availability and performance.

Performance Optimisation: Monitor and optimize performance, including query optimization and indexing strategies.

Advisory Role: Collaborate with developers to provide guidance on indexing, schema modeling, and efficient query practices.

Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Implement monitoring solutions to track database performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

Code Review: Review and provide feedback on Python code written by engineers that interacts with the database to ensure efficiency.

Requirements:

Experience: Approximately 4 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a strong focus on PostgreSQL.

Broad Knowledge: A well-rounded understanding of database management, including performance tuning, backups, and security.

Production Experience: Proven experience managing a production database environment and ensuring its reliability.

Coding Skills: Ability to write and review code, particularly in Python, is highly desirable.

Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.

Self-Starter: A proactive and independent work ethic, comfortable taking initiative and working in a fast-paced startup environment.
