Job Title: Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist

The Adult Mental Health Directorate in Newham is seeking a Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist to join their team on a 12-month fixed-term post. The successful candidate will work alongside two other liaison consultant psychiatrists, providing a comprehensive ageless liaison psychiatry service across A&E and inpatient settings. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with an interest or accreditation in old age psychiatry.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deliver consultant-led assessment and management of service users with mental health needs attending A&E and admitted to wards at Newham University Hospital.
  • Provide effective clinical leadership and advice to colleagues.
  • Lead training and education initiatives.
  • Offer supervision to junior staff.

Salary: £123,000 - £158,000 per annum, depending on experience.

This role requires a fully registered doctor with the General Medical Council, on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of eligibility to apply. Approval under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983 and Approved Clinician status are also necessary. Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists is preferred.
