Job Title: Procurement Manager

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Procurement Manager to join our client's team at Universal Business Team. This role is essential in driving the commercial and procurement strategies to support the company's growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Commercial Strategy and Processes:
    • Develop and implement commercial strategies that align with the company's goals and values.
    • Manage and oversee the pricing strategy to ensure competitive and structured pricing.
    • Prepare and present regular commercial reports to senior management, providing insights and recommendations.
    • Manage Product and Project Deliverables (PPD): Oversee the planning, development, and delivery of products and projects, ensuring they meet quality standards, deadlines, and budgetary constraints.
  • Purchasing and Product Management:
    • Lead and mentor the purchasing team, providing direction and support to meet targets and objectives.
    • Monitor and analyse market trends to identify potential risks and opportunities.
    • Identify new and innovative products which could be submitted to our product development team for review.
    • Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, customers, and third parties, securing win-win solutions.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Collaborate closely with all departments, particularly Sales and Operations, to ensure cohesive and efficient operations.
    • Oversee stock level management and product range management, including quality control, specifications, and product rationalisation.
    • Manage client pricing, margin management, and cost comparisons.
    • Utilise and champion Phocas, our business intelligence system, to generate reports, dashboards and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Leadership and Collaboration:
    • Contribute strategically at the Senior Leadership level, providing insights and leadership.
    • Getting involved in day-to-day commercial and procurement activities, demonstrating a hands-on approach, to understand where improvements can be made and where the challenges are currently.
    • Travel as required to meet with suppliers and attend exhibitions across the UK and Europe.
Requirements:
  • Experience in a senior commercial or procurement role.
  • Strong background in B2B environments, ideally within warehouse, distribution, or retail sectors.
  • Proven track record of leading teams and achieving results in a dynamic setting.
  • Training or experience in LEAN would be desirable.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to execute and drive commercial and procurement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
