Estimator Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Estimator to play a crucial role in the preparation of cost estimates for construction projects. The successful candidate will have a strong analytical mind, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to deliver accurate estimates that align with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects by analysing blueprints, specifications, and other documentation.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to gather necessary information for accurate estimating.
  • Conduct thorough market research to determine material costs and labour rates.
  • Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle, providing updates and recommendations for cost control measures.
  • Assist in the development of project budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Prepare and present estimates to clients and stakeholders, addressing any queries or concerns.
  • Maintain an organised database of past estimates for reference in future projects.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and techniques that may impact estimating processes.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as an Estimator or in a similar role within the construction or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of cost control principles and practices.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Excellent mathematical skills with a high level of accuracy in calculations.
  • Strong Estimating analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present information clearly.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite is advantageous.
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is desirable but not mandatory.
