About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Child Protection Specialist to join our team at Bath and North East Somerset Council. The successful candidate will have significant experience in safeguarding and protecting children, with a strong background in social work.

As a Lead Child Protection Specialist, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of complex child protection cases, working closely with families, children, and other professionals to ensure their safety and well-being. You will also be expected to provide supervision and guidance to junior staff members, as well as contribute to service development and improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of complex child protection cases, including conducting assessments, developing plans, and implementing interventions.
  • Work closely with families, children, and other professionals to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to junior staff members, including social workers and family support practitioners.
  • Contribute to service development and improvement initiatives, including policy development, training, and quality assurance.
Requirements:
  • A relevant social work qualification, such as a degree in social work or a diploma in social care.
  • Significant experience in safeguarding and protecting children, with a strong background in social work.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with families, children, and other professionals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and develop effective solutions.
