Job Title: Controls Engineer

NRL is partnering with a leading engineering consultancy specializing in the power generation sector to find an experienced Controls Engineer.

This role involves leading the development of a data visualization platform, improving the CHiPCoB on-site controls product, and bringing online power generation asset management products to the market.

The successful candidate will also provide controls and electrical support to existing operational assets and mentor junior engineers within the team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Configure and develop cloud-based SCADA capabilities
  • Develop and update PLC software for remote deployment
  • Advise and lead on the improvement of IT infrastructure across the business and customer power generation sites
  • Support the business on general electrical, control, and communications issues
Day-to-Day Duties:
  • Ensure all currently deployed control systems are working correctly and resolve any problems that arise
  • Coordinate the development work carried out by junior controls engineers within the team
  • Visit sites to resolve problems when required
Requirements:
  • Self-motivated and independent worker
  • PLC programming with knowledge of communications protocols
  • SCADA configuration and setup
  • Excellent IT and networking knowledge
  • Dealing with multiple projects simultaneously
  • Good HSE attitude
Desirable Skills:
  • MQTT
  • AWS
  • Siemens S7 PLCs and programming environments
  • Ability to analyze and modify software
Qualifications:
  • Relevant engineering qualification - degree level

This role requires mobility to visit various project sites, so a full UK driving license is required and preferably a car. NRL is a flexible working organization, allowing for a mutual pragmatic approach to working patterns, but may also include occasional out-of-normal-hours working. Remote working is possible, but there is an expectation that the candidate will visit our main office in Teesside at least once per week.
