Job Title: Climate Change Ecologist

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Climate Change Ecologist to join our team at CV Library. As a key member of our ecological consultancy, you will be responsible for undertaking ecological assessments, appraisals, and surveys for protected species and habitats.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct site visits to complete ecological assessments, including protected species risk assessments and protected species survey work, in accordance with current industry guidelines and procedures.
  2. Produce report documentation to document the findings of survey work completed.
  3. Assess and collate publicly available data and data obtained from local groups and centres as part of the desktop study.
  4. Provide ecological advice and guidance to clients, consulting Principal/Senior Ecologist or team members as required.
  5. Develop and maintain knowledge and experience through private reading, participation in external activities with local groups, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  6. Assist and mentor junior or less experienced members of the team in their day-to-day work and professional development.
  7. Provide high-level technical review of reports, prior to approval and submission to client.
  8. Support the Managing Director/Management Team in operational duties.

Requirements:

  1. At least two years of experience as a Senior Ecologist.
  2. Must possess at least two species licenses.
  3. Demonstrated experience in fieldwork, including habitat and bat surveys.
  4. A solid track record in office-based consultancy tasks such as reporting and mapping.
  5. Level 1 Class Licence for bat surveys, with other survey licenses welcomed.
  6. Strong botanical identification skills.
  7. Experience in Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Assessments and using the UKHab classification.
  8. Capability to conduct regular fieldwork.

Desirable:

  1. Membership of CIEEM.
  2. Level 2 Class Licence for bat surveys.
  3. Licenses for other protected species surveys.
  4. Experience in EPS Mitigation Licensing.
  5. Proficiency in GIS mapping.
  6. Understanding of relevant protected species planning policies, including the NPPF and local plans, in relation to development.

Package / Remuneration:

The remuneration package offered at this stage is subject to the experience of the candidate, but will likely include the following:

Basic Salary: Between £25,000 - £50,000
