Manufacturing and Engineering Director

As a key member of the ETS Technical team, you will lead a team of engineers to drive new product introductions and continuous improvement activities in our Manufacturing Department. Your expertise will be crucial in qualifying, verifying, and validating processes for highly technical and specialized measurement products.
Key Duties- Coordinate and manage the Process Engineering team's daily activities, ensuring seamless communication between R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality Departments.
- Develop and facilitate the professional growth of Process Engineering team members, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
- Oversee the development, validation, and verification of new processes for new products, working closely with the Manufacturing and Quality teams to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with the software team to automate existing processes, including the implementation of robotics and cobots, to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Work within our Phase Gate structure, owning the Design Transfer phase, and ensuring the successful transition of new products into production.
- Support the development team with the validation and verification of new products, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
- Develop and maintain new parts, BoMs, and suppliers in our MRP system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
- Work with the development team to identify and specify replacement parts and components for obsolete items.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Experience leading a team and a degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related subject.
- Extensive experience in product and process validation and verification, with a strong attention to detail and a drive for quality.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and achieve set targets.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and Publisher).
- Ability to travel (UK and occasionally internationally).
The following skills are highly desirable:
- Electronics assembly and soldering proficiency - surface mount & through hole.
- Familiarity with assembly of single-use plastic products, including adhesives and ultrasonic welding.
- Understanding of CE/EMC compliance principles.
- Familiarity with MRP systems.
- Expertise with statistical process control (SPC, CPK's etc.).
