Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Scientific Applications Specialist to join our team at Surface Measurement Systems Ltd in London. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented professional with a strong background in experimental work, thermal analysis, and materials characterisation.

The successful candidate will provide scientific leadership on our DVS and IGC SEA products, collaborating with cross-functional teams to accomplish tasks and provide regular updates and reports. A key responsibility will be testing prospective customer samples and providing scientific sample analysis reports.

We offer a competitive salary of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, reflecting the importance of this role. As a member of our scientific team, you will have opportunities for growth, up-skilling, and expanding your knowledge of various business industries.

This position requires a person with a minimum of a Master's degree (MSc, MEng or MPhil) or a PhD in Chemical Engineering or Analytical / Applied Chemistry or Physical Chemistry or a related discipline. Additional training will be provided on an "as needs" basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide scientific leadership on DVS and IGC SEA products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to accomplish tasks.
  • Test prospective customer samples and provide scientific sample analysis reports.
  • Work with scientists on advancing SMS's science.
  • Give poster and oral scientific presentations internationally as well as webinars.
