Role Overview

The Crown Commercial Service is seeking a seasoned leader to drive transformative change within its Digital & Data Services directorate. As the Head of Portfolio Management, you will establish and embed a newly formed function, overseeing enterprise-level transformations and ensuring adherence to governance frameworks.

This pivotal role requires strong leadership and collaboration across internal teams, portfolio management, and wider business leaders. You will play a key part in CCS's digital directorate transformation programme, shaping how effective change is managed and delivered within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Championing best practice project management standards and processes.
  • Servicing and maintaining agreed budgets for projects and/or programmes and forecasting actual costs against them.
  • Managing the PMO team and supporting project managers in resource deployment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Mandating and monitoring project teams on stakeholder relationship management.
  • Providing assurance on risk and issue management arrangements.
  • Ensuring appropriate governance is in place across projects for external reviews.
  • Monitoring and reporting on control effectiveness and implementing recommendations.
  • Establishing and operating project controls, reporting on progress and status to relevant bodies.
  • Identifying common capabilities and opportunities for linking up, re-using and sharing methods and resources between projects and programmes.
  • Disseminating learning from experience across the organisation.
  • Identifying, developing and sharing best practice project management processes, tools and templates.
