We are seeking a talented and motivated Principal Civil Engineer to join our design team in Birmingham as part of a multi-disciplinary department providing detailed designs for water-related projects in the UK.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on non-infrastructure projects, acting as Lead Design Engineer and undertaking the delivery of design solutions and associated outputs. You will provide technical guidance, support, and training to colleagues and assist in mentoring and the development of others.

As a key member of our water team, you will be involved in projects from conception to completion, including supporting the Project Manager to clarify the project brief, agree deliverables, and manage internal project start-up meetings.

You will also be responsible for undertaking significant elements of the detailed design and checking outputs as directed, assessing, documenting, and communicating design changes to the Project Manager.

Additionally, you will be involved in business development activities, including assisting with the preparation of capability statements and the submission of pre-qualification questionnaires, expressions of interest, and tenders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead design engineer for water projects
  • Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues
  • Undertake detailed design and checking of outputs
  • Assess and document design changes
  • Involved in business development activities

Requirements:

  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards with a relevant institution
  • Strong interpersonal and team working skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of water and wastewater non-infrastructure design
  • Extensive experience in design, contract, and tender preparation
