Job Summary

The Decontamination Unit at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Decontamination Technician. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient decontamination and delivery of endoscopes to our user areas within the hospital.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Decontaminate and supply endoscopes to departments within Blackpool Victoria Hospital
  • Work to deadlines, ensuring the quality and safe use of all instruments and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with required standards, documented procedures, and work instructions
  • Support the Vision and Values of the Trust

Job Responsibilities
  • Stock Control: Ensure stock rotation is carried out, check minimum stock levels, and liaise with colleagues as necessary
  • Decontamination Process: Follow correct entry and exit procedures, wear Personal Protective Equipment, and follow work instructions for safe handling and cleaning of instrumentation
  • Delivery and Storage Process (Clean Room): Follow correct entry and exit procedures, wear correct clothing, and follow hand hygiene procedures
  • Delivery and Collection: Ensure correct procedure for collecting and delivering scopes, track and trace equipment through the System (Scantrack)
Person Specification
  • Essential Qualifications: Willingness and ability to undertake Eastwood Park training
  • Desirable Qualifications: Eastwood Park Training
  • Essential Experience: Understanding of quality and change in the clinical setting, ability to communicate in English, and basic skills in email
  • Desirable Experience: Experience as a Decontamination Technician
