Job Title: Learning Assistant ASN

Midlothian Council is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Assistant ASN to join our Support and Inclusion Department. As a key member of our team, you will provide essential support to young people with a wide range of additional support needs.

About the Role

This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires a strong ability to work effectively as part of a fast-moving team. You will work closely with students and staff to provide individualized support, promoting positive relationships and a safe learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one support to students with additional support needs in mainstream classroom settings, the Support and Inclusion classrooms, and the Complex Needs Base.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized support plans.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents to ensure seamless support and inclusion.
  • Participate in training and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge in supporting students with additional support needs.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills at Standard Grade General level or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children and young people with additional support needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion, equity, and wellbeing in education.

Please note that this post is considered Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. You will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council.
