Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing our global insurance program, advising on insurance and claims related matters, and interacting with other departments to establish industry best practices. Externally, you will work with brokers and insurance providers to support commercial activity and risk mitigation for the wider business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an optimal insurance program structure to meet the company's global insurance needs.
- Manage the negotiation of cost-effective coverage and terms and conditions across insurance policies.
- Coordinate the management of all corporate wide insurance matters, including reviewing new operations, identifying gaps, and recommending coverage as needed.
- Build and manage external partner relationships, including insurance brokers, third-party administrators, and insurance companies.
- Monitor and maintain all issued insurance certificates, insurance cover, and proactively manage renewals.
- Prepare and submit insurance claims to insurance brokers/underwriters and negotiate for the best possible outcome for the company.
- Work closely with the legal team on new sanctions issued by regulatory bodies and communicate these changes to the relevant business as appropriate.
- Monitor, amend, and communicate sanctioned vessels and shipping companies as required.
- Provide advice and input on sanctions-related clauses in commercial contracts.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's or higher degree in a relevant field, such as Finance, Shipping, or Maritime Law.
- Relevant experience of 7+ years in energy/oil trading or tanker ship management in insurance or broking.
- Strong knowledge of insurance markets and trends.
- Able to manage time-sensitive information and activities.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Good understanding of insurance products, general insurance, coverage, contracts, and terminology associated with the insurance and commodities industry.
- Relationship with insurance companies, brokers, and underwriters.
- Effective facilitation, planning, organizational, analytical skills.
- Computer literate in Microsoft Suite and experience in commercial systems.
- Fluent in English.
- Proactive and able to work on own initiative.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
