Position: Cost Manager with a Focus on Mechanical and Electrical

Role Summary

We are currently in search of Cost Managers specializing in Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) aspects. In this role, you will oversee and execute all cost management activities related to M&E packages, working in close collaboration with design, planning, and construction teams. Your key responsibilities will include ensuring project profitability, maintaining documentation, and upholding quality assurance standards. Essential duties and qualifications will encompass:

  • Educating site supervisory personnel about project scopes and tender package components
  • Preparing tender documentation for M&E subcontract work
  • Generating necessary paperwork for subcontractor procurement
  • Ensuring positive cash flow and achieving or exceeding projected project margins
  • Forecasting and reporting on financial performance and cash flow
  • Managing subcontract agreements, including payments, claims, and client submissions
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants
  • Administering primary contracts, evaluating completed work, and identifying time extensions

Qualifications for Success

The ideal candidate will possess a degree in quantity surveying or a related field, complemented by a background in construction quantity surveying. Other essential skills and experiences include:

  • Knowledge of the M&E market, including labor and resource costs, and an understanding of M&E product markets
  • A construction or building background with the ability to interpret technical drawings and plans
  • Experience in M&E quantity surveying and a financial understanding of construction costs
  • Comprehension of contracts and the ability to read and understand drawings, contracts, and legal matters
  • Expertise in procurement, commercial governance, risk management, cost forecasting, and reporting
  • Experience with lift installations and related service packages on high-value projects across various sectors is a plus
  • Proven experience in managing M&E subcontract accounts to final agreement
  • A motivated individual with strong communication and negotiation skills
