Job Description

As a Field Network Engineer Apprentice at ENGINEERINGUK, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for maintaining the UK's critical digital infrastructure. Your primary role will be to learn and develop skills in network engineering, with a focus on fibre and copper cable networks, IP routers, and telecommunications equipment.

You will have the opportunity to work on various projects, including the National Roads Telecommunications Service networks, and gain hands-on experience in maintaining roadside cabinets, cable, and termination. You will also learn about optical fibre, including cable preparation, splicing, and OTDR testing.

As a trainee, you will receive comprehensive training and support to help you develop your skills and knowledge. You will work closely with experienced engineers and have the opportunity to rotate across different teams to gain a broad understanding of the company's operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and repairing network equipment, including fibre and copper cable networks
  • Learning and implementing new technologies and techniques
  • Working with IP routers and networks
  • Supporting and testing telecommunications equipment
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with company policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • A-Level/Level 3 (or equivalent) IT-related qualification
  • Full UK driving license (essential)
  • Ability to work at heights and in outdoor environments
  • Willingness to travel regionally and stay away from home on occasion

Programme specifics:

  • This apprenticeship is typically 24 months in duration
  • The qualification you gain will be a Level 4 Network Engineer
  • Our chosen training provider will support you in obtaining your qualification
