About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Symmetric Recruitment Ltd. As a key member of our manufacturing operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our production processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively lead and direct all maintenance and breakdown tasks associated with site equipment and facilities.
  • Manage operational safety issues affecting staff on a day-to-day basis.
  • Allocate and maintain daily production output needs, ensuring all targets are achieved.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is undertaken and recorded in accordance with our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Provide guidance to other team members on technical and operational issues.
  • Carry out maintenance product audits, including pre- and post-work inspections.
  • Report plant and infrastructure defects and initiate rectification through the CMMS.
  • Investigate and implement solutions for repeat failures on existing processes, establishing the cause of the fault and undertaking the most cost-effective solution.
  • Identify opportunities and implement solutions for improving all aspects of manufacturing operations, focusing on safety, quality, output, and efficiency.
  • Carry out a planned preventative maintenance work program, reporting all findings to provide Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM).
  • Share and document knowledge and skills with colleagues, production, and maintenance personnel to ensure continuity of service.
  • Provide support for the commissioning of new plant and equipment, including the control of contractors.
  • Maintain the highest level of housekeeping (5S Gold Standard) to create an environment in keeping with our expectations and quality procedures.
  • Ensure all activities carried out are ethical and comply with health and safety and environmental policy.
  • Deliver a high quality of workmanship while actively promoting safe working practices.
  • Ensure all departmental processes and procedures are followed and work towards developing and improving these to improve operations.
  • Ensure an effective and efficient shift handover is completed and documented for all shift changes.
Health and Safety
  • Understand and share with your team all emergency procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Comply with all EH&S requirements.
  • Understand emergency procedures and safe systems of work, using our library system.
  • Observe safety behavior in the working environment.
  • Comply with SOPs/SS of Ws.
  • Carry out Risk Assessments (trained in our company system) relating to engineering tasks.
