Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Specialist to join our Water Quality and Environment team at Severn Trent. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver annual wastewater sampling and analysis plans for Operator Self-Monitoring and Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive (UWWTD) regulatory obligations.
  • Manage the day-to-day workload of two Waste Water Monitoring Advisors.
  • Forecast spend in respect to the OSM and UWWTR Sampling and Analysis Contracts.
  • Be the main point of contact for the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales for OSM and UWWTR monitoring, analytical, data return and regulatory queries.
  • Lead the Environment Agency's and Natural Resources Wales annual Operator Monitoring Assessment (OMA) Audit.
  • Provide advice and interpretation on waste water monitoring requirements to internal stakeholders and engineering consultants appointed by Severn Trent Water or Hafren Dyfrdwy.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the water industry regulatory arena, environmental regulations and environmental management system.
  • Experience planning and delivering regulatory sample plans for wastewater or water.
  • Excellent people management skills with the ability to communicate effectively with the regulator and stakeholders of all levels.
  • Strong analytical, planning and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage your own workload.
  • Experience in use of MS Office tools (Word, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, power BI). Knowledge and experience of sample manager or similar systems would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Relevant experience in an environmental discipline environmental chemistry, hydrology, hydrogeology, water management or similar.
  • Travel is required so you must hold a full UK driving license.
