About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Newly Qualified Solicitor to join our Motor Insurance Department in Southampton. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for handling a caseload of defendant litigated claims, working closely with our clients and other stakeholders to deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of defendant litigated claims, ensuring compliance with Solicitors' Accounts Rules and Law Society Practice Management Standards.
  • File handling, reviewing quantum, valuing general and special damages, and finalizing case plans, including advice on next steps.
  • Referring cases for supervision and guidance to ensure the correct procedure and process is followed.
  • Entering into telephone negotiations, liaising with third-party solicitors and insurers, and recording the outcome of those approaches.
  • Drafting documents, including applications, offers, proposed orders, directions, and attending telephone conferences, applications, and court hearings.
  • Working to Court Deadlines and managing time effectively using organizational skills and case management systems.
  • Seeing cases through from commencement of proceedings to conclusion, dealing with cases in a cost-effective manner.
  • Understanding the litigation process and offering solutions to legal problems.
  • Ensuring all cases are dealt with in compliance with Solicitors' Accounts Rules and Law.
  • Managing time effectively and completing MI and understanding of SLAs.
  • Complying with HF practice and procedures.
Other Responsibilities
  • Assisting with the efficient running of the office generally.
  • Performing other responsibilities assigned by the Management Team as requested.
