About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal/Senior Ecologist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and conducting a wide range of ecological assessments, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Protected Species Surveys, and Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments. You will work closely with clients, providing expert advice and delivering high-quality ecological reports.

The role offers a mix of office and fieldwork, with a diverse and rewarding project portfolio. As a key member of the team, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the company's strategic growth, mentoring junior staff, and playing a significant role in maintaining the company's reputation for technical innovation and excellence.

About You

We are looking for a passionate ecologist with strong technical skills and a desire to contribute to a supportive and innovative team. Essential requirements include:

  • Minimum of four years of experience in ecological consultancy.
  • Bat Survey Licence (Level 2).
  • Strong skills in Preliminary Ecological Appraisal and Protected Species Surveys.
  • Familiarity with Biodiversity Net Gain and its application in ecological assessments.
  • Good knowledge of British flora and fauna.
  • Understanding of wildlife legislation and the planning system.
  • Excellent report writing skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Full driving licence.

Preferred additional skills include:

  • Specialist experience in assessing and reporting Biodiversity Net Gain.
  • Experience in applying for and implementing European Protected Species Mitigation Licences.
  • Familiarity with BREEAM 2018 Ecology Assessments.
  • Any additional specialisms or skills that you can bring to the team.
