Job Title: Classroom Assistant

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Classroom Assistant to join our team at the Education Authority. The successful candidate will work closely with our educators to provide support to students with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide individualized support to students with special educational needs, promoting their learning and development.
  2. Assist educators in planning and implementing lesson plans, ensuring the needs of all students are met.
  3. Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, adhering to health and safety protocols.
  4. Develop and maintain effective relationships with students, educators, and parents/guardians.
  5. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  6. Collaborate with colleagues to achieve team goals and objectives.
  7. Maintain accurate records and reports as required.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned by educators or supervisors.

Requirements:
  1. Hold a minimum of a Level 2 childcare qualification as approved by the Education Authority.
  2. Have a minimum of six months' experience of working with children with special educational needs in a special school and/or special unit attached to a mainstream school.
  3. Evidence of a working knowledge of information technology systems, including Microsoft Word and Outlook and/or C2K schools IT systems.
  4. Demonstrable knowledge of the requirements of a Classroom Assistant (additional special educational needs), child development issues, and health and safety requirements relevant to the role.
  5. Evidence of an ability to work flexibly and creatively to help ensure a child-centred learning experience, highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, and proven team working and collaborative skills.
  6. Evidence of effective planning and organizing skills to ensure work is completed on time to the required standard.
  7. Evidence of how your experience and approach to work reflect the school's values and ethos.

Desirable Criteria:
  1. Hold GCSE passes at grades A*- C in English and/or Mathematics, or equivalent or higher level qualifications.
