As a senior cost consultant within Mace, you'll provide a comprehensive commercial function for all work packages making up the commission.

  • You'll possess technical expertise in local health and safety rules and regulations relevant to the project portfolio.
  • You'll champion a diverse and inclusive working environment and understand the importance of the wellbeing of the people you manage.

Client Focus - Deliver on Our Promise:

  • You'll manage cost planning, including ownership of and presenting cost plans to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • You'll manage the procurement process, ensuring stages including prequalification, enquiry, analysis, selection, and contract preparation are performed effectively.
  • You'll support the delivery of cost management services to deliver key strategic outcomes and KPIs, directly influencing strategic development of plans.
  • You'll support associate/project directors with cost management and contract performance reports.
  • You'll manage procurement of projects or assist procurement, including preparing contract and tender documentation.
  • You'll prepare and manage contract documentation and negotiate with contractors.
  • You'll present cost reports, including monthly performance reviews.
  • You'll advise the project manager on the administration of NEC contracts.
  • You'll assist the project manager across all functions and project delivery.
  • You'll act under delegated authority from the project manager.
  • You'll assess AFPs and CEs to advise the project manager on amounts due under contract.
  • You'll ensure that interim and final assessments are accurate, robust, and in accordance with terms.
  • You'll work with contractors to achieve agreed final assessments where possible.
  • You'll be a key interface with clients, stakeholders, and other consultants at all project stages.
  • You'll handle contractual frameworks.
  • You'll identify and act upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, and products.
  • You'll identify and act upon ways to improve internal systems and processes.

Integrity - Always Do the Right Thing:

  • You'll manage operations that are fiscally and ethically viable, influencing the achievement of business objectives that align with business and legislative compliance obligations.
  • You'll work collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
  • You'll commit to making a positive impact for our people, our clients, and our planet, and take ownership for holding others to account who do not uphold the Mace values.

Create Opportunity - For Our People to Excel:

  • You'll manage teams, demonstrating effective leadership to ensure excellence in delivery against plans, championing a continuous improvement culture throughout all activities.
  • You'll actively network, innovate, and seek understanding of best practice, utilizing the full depth of knowledge of Mace group, the centres of excellence, Mace Way Control Centre, and Knowledge Hub.
  • You'll manage other cost consultants to identify and execute opportunities that improve cost management procedures, templates, and products to enhance services provided to stakeholders.
  • You'll need to have:
  • Port and marine experience is preferable but not essential.
  • Sound understanding of earthworks/highways operations is desirable.
  • You are digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships, and enjoy working within a strong, motivated team environment. You will be hungry to grow your career and enjoy the exciting opportunities for professional and personal growth that Mace has to offer.

Mace is an inclusive employer and welcomes interest from a diverse range of candidates. Even if you feel you do not fulfil all of the criteria, please apply as you may still be the best candidate for this role or another role within our organisation.
