Main Responsibilities

As a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer at WGM Engineering Ltd, you will be responsible for providing management support on projects across the business, focusing on design and optioneering exercises to develop initial client concepts or requirements into workable solutions.

Key Tasks
  • Collaborate with internal and external clients to identify their exact requirements and provide tailored design solutions.
  • Attend site-based surveys to gather information and data, meeting client representatives to inform the optimum design solution.
  • Manage detailed design tasks to client stage gate and approval specifications, working closely with other disciplines on the project.
  • Produce design deliverables for specified projects, contributing technical guidance as required and checking/approving design packages produced by other designers.
  • Present designs at internal review meetings and external client review meetings, such as HAZOP's and Technical Authority reviews.
  • Support team and personal Continuous Professional Development by staying aware of advances or emergent technologies within the mechanical design discipline.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you will have at least 3-5 years of previous design experience, ideally within a mechanical engineering or construction environment. As Lead Designer, you should have a strong background in mechanical design and a good understanding of the water or wastewater sector, which would be beneficial for the role. Strong communication skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and other stakeholders are essential for this position.

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate a high level of technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
