Job Opportunity: Maths Teacher at HMP Peterborough

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Maths Teacher to join our team at HMP Peterborough. As a Maths Teacher, you will play a vital role in helping prisoners achieve their functional skills qualification in English.

Your key responsibilities will include planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating activities and courses to support prisoners' learning. You will also be responsible for monitoring attendance, achievement, and progression, while challenging negative behaviors and increasing prisoners' self-esteem through a self-directed learning/teaching style.

Working in a prison environment offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals. You will enjoy year-round education without the constraints of term-based schedules, providing flexibility to take leave throughout the year. With smaller class sizes, you will be able to adopt a learner-centric approach, customizing teaching methods to cater to individual needs.

This is a challenging and rewarding role where you will directly impact the future of our prisoners by equipping them with the tools they need to incorporate stability in their lives upon release.

The ideal candidate will possess a teaching qualification in the relevant subject area or experience in a teaching/tutor role. They will also have an interest in the rehabilitation of offenders, a flexible and responsive attitude, and a willingness to innovate and demonstrate self-motivation.
