The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Ecologist to join our Scotland-based team, focusing on ecological consulting and environmental planning services for various sectors, including utilities and infrastructure. As a Principal Ecologist, you will lead and manage complex ecological projects, collaborating with clients and stakeholders to deliver high-quality results. Essential qualifications include a BSc and/or MSc degree in Ecology or a closely related subject, along with CIEEM membership and experience in writing ecological reports and leading negotiations with Nature Scot and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities include designing, procuring, and managing habitat and protected species surveys, conducting ecological fieldwork, and implementing mitigation projects. Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing fee proposals, tender applications, and managing project finances. A full UK driving license, insured for business purposes, and willingness to travel for client meetings and site surveys are also required.
