About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered General Nurse to join our team at The Haldon, a NHS Specialist Eating Disorder Unit based in Exeter, Devon. As a key member of our nursing team, you will play a vital role in promoting recovery from Eating Disorders in a caring and supportive environment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with patients and their families, taking into account any communication difficulties and responding appropriately.
  • Participate in Clinical Review Meetings as part of the core nursing team, contributing to the assessment, care planning, and evaluation of nursing care.
  • Provide meal time support, guidance, and techniques during meals and post-meal support, as well as training in interventions such as NG feeding.
  • Assess and manage risk in conjunction with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), ensuring the safety and well-being of patients.
  • Deliver therapeutic interventions, including facilitating groups and individual 1-1 sessions, and offering positive and active engagement.
  • Provide nursing care skills, including physical observations, blood sugar monitoring, and medication management.
  • Contribute to the running and organization of nursing shifts, ensuring a smooth and efficient service.

Person Specification
  • Experience of working in a Mental Health Setting
  • Understanding of Assessment, Care Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation of Nursing Care
  • Excellent understanding of neurodiversity, complex trauma, and additional needs such as communication difficulties, health, psych-social care needs, and distress
Qualifications
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse
  • Degree/HE Diploma Level
  • Additional Training or Qualifications of working with people with an Eating Disorder
