We are seeking a highly skilled Ecological Specialist to join our Development Management team within the Planning Service at Stroud District Council. As an Ecological Specialist, you will play a crucial role in shaping and driving the delivery of biodiversity net gain in the district.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide specialist expertise to support planning and ecology colleagues and applicants to successfully deliver BNG, nature recovery, and ecological improvements across Stroud district.
• Work with partners within the Local Nature Recovery Partnership and other statutory agencies to implement BNG.
• Develop and implement strategies to address local challenges to BNG implementation and explore opportunities for early embedding in the planning process.

Requirements:

• Qualified ecologist with a demonstrable understanding of the principles of biodiversity net gain, the requirements of the Environment Act, and other relevant legislation and policy.
• Understanding of the planning process and ecological context within Development Management.
