Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team at Motorsport-Total GmbH. As a key member of our procurement function, you will be responsible for managing the procurement process for our new programmes, ensuring that we deliver the best possible commercial and technology results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Commodity Procurement team to develop and implement Category Strategies for our commodity areas, ensuring they are up-to-date and relevant for our new programmes.
  • Run the RFQ process in line with the Category Strategies, maintaining competitive tension to deliver the best possible results.
  • Analyze and interrogate suppliers' RFQ responses to deliver comprehensive quotations and a total cost picture for sharing with the Commodity Procurement team.
  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including VLD and Engineering, to ensure seamless cooperation and delivery of the best cost and technology solutions.
  • Work closely with Procurement Project Managers to ensure all procurement activities are completed on time for our new programmes.
  • Develop close relationships with SQD Engineers to ensure delivery of cost, timing, and quality programme requirements.
  • Ensure supplier tooling costs are fully interrogated and that tooling is delivered on time and to cost, in line with programme requirements.
  • Maintain the tooling / asset register, ensuring it is fully up-to-date and compliant with McLaren's requirements.
Requirements
  • University degree in Business or Engineering (ideally automotive, aerospace, or mechanical), or similar.
  • Deep understanding of the Procurement function and processes, with demonstrable experience of managing multi-national suppliers.
  • At least 3 years' experience as a buyer and senior buyer with an Automotive Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), or a minimum of 3 years' experience as a senior buyer within a manufacturing business or First Tier Automotive supplier.
  • Experience of delivering procurement activities for new programmes, aligned to category strategies and through cross-functional collaboration with Engineering.
  • Well-proven skills in Quotation Analysis Form (QAF) interrogation, with a good understanding of suppliers' cost drivers.
  • Experience of high-volume and niche vehicle Procurement, with the ability to apply best practice as appropriate.
  • Experienced with financial analysis for assessing suppliers' health and building business cases internally.
  • Fluent written and verbal English is essential.
