Clinical Lead

Job Summary
The post-holder will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of acute medical services in conjunction with clinical colleagues and other professional staff. The post-holder will be based at Darlington Memorial Hospital or University Hospital North Durham and will be expected to undertake clinical work, develop specialist skills, and contribute to the planning of future service developments.
The post-holder will have continuing responsibility for the care of patients and will be expected to provide a comprehensive clinical service alongside Consultant colleagues. They will also be expected to cover colleagues in their absence and ensure continuous patient care.
The post-holder will be accountable to the Clinical Director of the Medical Directorate and will be responsible for the effective and efficient use of resources allocated. They will also be responsible for the professional and educational supervision of junior medical staff.
The post-holder will be expected to participate in postgraduate teaching of medical staff and undergraduates attached to the Trust and in the training of all grades of staff. Research activities will be encouraged and limited research funding may be available following successful applications to the local research and development committee.
The post-holder will be responsible for ensuring that they meet the national requirements for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and will attend regularly and contribute to the weekly half-day educational activities held by the Care Group.
The Trust supports requirements for continuing professional development as laid down by the Royal Colleges and is committed to providing support for these activities. The post-holder will be expected to actively participate in clinical audit and participate in clinical governance arrangements in line with national and local guidelines.
The post includes a GIM oncall commitment.
