Patent Paralegal Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Patent Paralegal to join our team in London, Bath, or Leeds. As a Patent Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in supporting our lawyers in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, including drafting and filing documents with the relevant authorities.
  2. Conduct research and analysis to identify relevant prior art and assess the novelty and inventiveness of patent applications.
  3. Collaborate with lawyers and other team members to ensure the smooth operation of patent prosecution.
  4. Develop and maintain expertise in patent law and procedures, staying up-to-date with changes and developments in the field.
  5. Provide excellent customer service to clients, responding to their queries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working as a Patent Paralegal (more than 2 years is highly desirable) but we would also consider more junior candidates and candidates from a secretarial background within the IP field.
  • A "can-do" approach, with a consistent and reliable manner.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing priorities.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • The ability to work autonomously, with minimal supervision.
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • The ability to foster trust and understanding within the team by showing willingness to assist when requests come in, maintaining a positive approach and showing concern for others by offering to cover.
  • Excellent IT skills, with experience of advanced IT systems.
  • Previous experience working with Inprotech or a similar database.
  • Experience of a Document Management System.
