Build a Data Protection Programme from Scratch

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Protection Officer to join our team at Barclay Simpson. As a Data Protection Officer, you will be responsible for building a data protection programme from the ground up, ensuring compliance with the DPA 2018 and GDPR.

You will be the figurehead in launching our B2C proposition, working closely with the leadership team to ensure that data protection is at the forefront of our business strategy. You will be responsible for monitoring internal data and compliance practices, ensuring training is run throughout the organisation, and monitoring DPIAs.

We are looking for a candidate who is ready for their first DPO role or someone who has experience in a similar role before. If you have consumer retail DP experience from a regulated financial background, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a data protection programme that meets the requirements of the DPA 2018 and GDPR
  • Monitor internal data and compliance practices to ensure compliance with data protection regulations
  • Ensure training is run throughout the organisation to educate employees on data protection best practices
  • Monitor DPIAs to ensure that all data processing activities are compliant with data protection regulations
  • Be the point of contact for the ICO and respond to any data protection queries or concerns
