About the SEMH Teaching Assistant Role:

SENDhelp is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to work with students who have a range of SEN and challenging behaviours. This role is based in a supportive school in Wembley and focuses on helping students with SEMH needs to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, despite their behavioural challenges.

Key Responsibilities as a SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEN and SEMH needs, particularly those with challenging behaviour
  • Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to implement personalised strategies for students with SEN
  • Support students in both 1:1 and group settings, ensuring they stay engaged in lessons
  • Help students develop coping mechanisms for their behaviour and emotions, promoting self-regulation and positive outcomes
  • Maintain consistent communication with staff and parents regarding students' progress
  • Encourage a positive and inclusive classroom environment for all students, particularly those with SEN and SEMH needs
